One of our biggest clients for medical content is the University of Stellenbosch Medical Faculty. We produce custom eLearning courses as well as supplying them with iSpring Authoring tools to build their own courses. In addition, we provide training to them to assist them in effectively utilising these tools when developing their own courses.
Our most recent training workshop included training on how to use the iSpring Role Play tool. The workshop consisted of a three-hour face-to-face session with 12 lecturers at their facility in Cape Town, South Africa.
We as VUCA Consulting specifically recommend the Role Play Training tool for industries that have a practical element (such as the medical industry).
Why? Well, it allows for a virtual creation of scenarios that the learners or users would typically encounter while in the field.
Testing users by simulation scenarios typical to their field/industry is proven to be highly effective in obtaining a higher understanding of the theory and how to apply it practically- it is that one step further.
At the workshop with the Stellenbosch University Medical Faculty, we first worked through the elements provided by the tool, for example how to build the branching, inserting avatars, backgrounds and images, how to set the emotion meter and scoring, etc. We then built a short basic scenario together. Attendees of the workshop were very receptive to the training, asked questions that showed that they understood the concepts of the tool well and thought outside the box on how to apply the tool to their medical courses.
After the workshop, we received the following feedback from the university:
“Baie dankie vir vandag se opleiding en vir al julle moeite. Ons waardeer dit opreg.”
